Jim comes to the CareerPro team with a diverse professional background spanning 12 years of writing in, for and about the military and government. He has successfully negotiated the transition process through a wide range of professions, becoming something of an expert in the “quick lane change between career paths.” He first cross-commissioned from the United States Air Force Academy into the Army, where he served as an Infantry then an Intelligence Officer. After seven years of active duty service and two combat tours in Iraq where he was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Jim decided to embark on a new career and qualified for a position as a Special Agent with the FBI. Due to unexpected developments, he instead made the rapid transition to military spouse, stay-at-home father and self-employed writer. Over the last six years he has written as a freelancer, columnist and editor, with work appearing in The Atlantic, Stars and Stripes and Men’s Health UK, as well as two published books.
